Gagik Khodaverdian (1954-2003)
Gagik Khodaverdian was born in Tehran, Iran, on August 6, 1954, to proud parents Teloo and Arshak Khodaverdian and was one of three brothers. After working for Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) for many years, he immigrated to Canada in 1990 along with his wife, Aida, and his two daughters Meghedi and Alin, whom he immediately enrolled at ARS Day School, highlighting the importance of an Armenian education and upbringing.
Gagik stressed the importance of kindness, compassion, hard work, dedication and academic excellence through his daily actions and instilled these values into his daughters’ hearts and minds. He also emphasized the importance of upholding his Christian Faith, Armenian heritage and the significance of the strength of the Armenian community.
Gagik operated a succesful retail business for over 10 years, where he was always remembered for his genuine, friendly and kind natured smile. He touched everyone he met with his kind heart and giving nature.
After a brave battle with stomach cancer, Gagik passed away on August 16, 2003, one year shy of his 50th birthday. While he may no longer be with us physically, he is in our hearts and minds, his values and beliefs living on brightly through his daughters, wife, family and friends.
“How lucky I am to have had something that made saying good bye so hard.”
