 Vart Loris Zakarian was born in Cairo on July 28, 1948 and he passed away on July 28, 2007, his 59th birthday.

Vart immigrated to Canada on July 28, 1971.  He was a member of Homenetmen Scouts as a cub, scout and later as a leader in the Toronto chapter.  He established the first “Scout Khorhourt” in 1974 and took his Scouts and Girl Guides to their first winter camp.

He was honoured by the Toronto Homenetmen three times for is dedication, passion and outstanding work.

After graduating from Ryerson as an Advanced Electronic Technologist, Vart established his own business in telecommunications and served telephone centres throughout Canada for 28 years. 

He fell in love with Arshalouise Kassabian, shortly after he came to Canada.  She attended the same Armenian elementary school in Egypt but was a year younger than him. They married on July 27, 1974 and had two children, Arda and Haig.  Vart was a very loving and wonderful father to them both. 

A dedicated sportsman, he ran every year with his dog, Jermag, to help raise funds for the projects by the All Armenian Fund.

The lymphoma broke his ideal body but never his spirit.  His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
